- Well....If ya weren't at The Perris Auto Speedway
on August 11th you probably missed one of the
very finest displays of Mini Sprint Racing you
are ever going to see!
All that AND a big bag of chips.... With the
skies being brite , and the heat register being
placed on high, and a grandstand full of beer
drinking , hell raising race fans it was on-N-cracking.
Twenty California Lightning Sprints hauled
out to the track to put on another display of
"Hot Town-Get Down-Roundy Round" racing.
With the points race battle being thrown into
a fevered pitch and the Rookie-of-the-Year battle
getting tighter that a "20 yr. old rusty
bolt" , this race was up for grabs! Hot
laps and heat racing was just about the same
as usual, except for the outstanding performance
of the new guy, Chris "CRASH" Dickey
#11r, whom stepped up his program to take a
heat race away from some of the old guard "DAWGS"
, earning him his 1st. checkered flag (heat
race) in his 3rd race with the club.
As they charged the starting line, with every
race fan in attendance standing on their feet
and screaming, it looked like 4:00 pm on a Los
Angeles freeway....x's 50...at light speed !
Cars going high, some low and some just going
crazy. Turn #1 turned into a bottle-neck , and
it never got any better! How ya like it now
!!!!!
As they circled, fighting it out for track
positioning at every square inch of surface
the track, and 6 to 8 cars staying in it til
the living end, it was just magnificent!
David "bzerk" Bezio #37, doing what
he's done best throughout the whole season fought
his way to a sizeable lead (5 car lengths),
only to have a steering component(weld) let
go, sending him spinning outta control, clockwise...no
less, in turn #3.What a horrific sight to see,
yet he used his incredible skills to rail it
in and keep him from being obliterated on the
wall.Scary as all hell, yet simply incredible
to see him crawl out of his car in one piece.
After David Bezio spinning outta control it
was soon to be an enourmous battle for the podium
finishes between Stuey Hielscher jr.#9r, Christian
Stover #18r , Shane Rosson #2, Mike Valentine
#76, Brent Sexton #44, Chris Dickey #11r,Lil
Bones, Donny Kramer jr.#71 and the rest of this
hot field here tonite. Long story short...yeah
right, Christian Stover #18r, Stuey hielscher
#9r and Shane Rosson #2 finished in that order
after some heated racing. With Stuey leading
the field, Christian was able to get under him
when stuey drifted a little high in the turn,
giving Christian another huge win at the PAS,
as well as the Hard Charger Award for coming
from deep in the field to win it all. Geeeez...this
kid is the REAL DEAL ! We are extremely fortunate
to be able to witness this great battle between
these two talented, young, up-an-coming drivers
in the club this year. The Rookie-of-the-Year
race is hotly being contested by Christian and
Stuey, whom have risen to #3 Stuey and #5 Christian
in overal points standing, and #1 Stuey &
#2 Christian for Rookie-of-the-Year standings.
It doesn't get any better than this.
Shane Rosson drove his Performance by Rosson
